Google Page Speed Test
Speed up your web page load times
If you Google Page Speed Test, you should see two websites appear on the first page of results:
These two sites are highly trusted and are the "go to" sites for testing web page load speeds. I use them for every single page I create on any of my websites. You can see them in action to prove my point in the video above.
Page speed and load times are vitally important for your site's seo. The faster your site loads, the better and higher it will rank in the index. The reason for this is user experience.
Google, Bing etc all like to give their site visitors the best experience possible. They will always give priority to sites that are:
A slow loading, sluggish page will cause a high bounce rate on your pages. This is when a visitor, after finding your page, immediately hits the back button to the search results. Normally due to a slow loading page.
Some search engines have their own tools for this. Google's page speed test is pretty good but I find the results vary a fair bit from the two sites above.
Time is of the essence
You have approximately 3-4 seconds to impress a visitor and encourage them to stay on your site.
The method in the video above, and used by this blog post, will dramatically reduce your page load time quickly and easily.
Thrive Themes are superb (click link for our review). They create excellent, fast loading and SEO optimized themes for WordPress websites and are adding to their tools all the time.
The method I use above is part of their Thrive Architect plug in which is a true WYSIWYG experience that works. I use it all the time and I can blaze through page and post creation.
