Wealthy Affiliate Review

*Important note: The benefits of being part of a community such as Wealthy Affiliate, with their excellent training and responsiveness to the web are enormous. I took my eyes off the web for a while some time ago and some crazy things happened. For example, YouTube changed their video embedding coding which meant all of my videos weren't showing any more.

I had to go through my entire site and change them all and that took time. If I was part of the WA community at that time, I would have had ample notice to make the amendments before my videos went AWOL.

For those joining without any, or very little experience, you are going to love this.

Wealthy Affiliate Review (WA)

Wealthy Affiliate are different to Sitesell or any other internet marketing training companies I have come across. They really do move with the times and I joined them as a premium member for a few reasons.

Firstly, I had taken a break from Internet Marketing due to family illnesses, my kid's needs and moving house twice. Whilst my websites were still bringing in money (which is the amazing thing about this business), I had taken my finger off the pulse in my research and development department.

The online world is a fickle and fast moving environment and things change all the time. Things such as YouTube coding updates and all the Google algorithm changes that occur many times throughout the year.

After a LOT of research, I decided to join Wealthy Affiliate more as a way of getting myself up to date and back on track.

However, once I had joined and immersed myself into their system, I was gobsmacked.

What you get at Wealthy Affiliate on Sign Up

You have two choices when signing up at WA. Free or Premium.

Free Member

I can't even begin to explain how much you get and the importance of each on this page alone but here are some snippets.

Training

The sheer amount of training available at WA is incredible. The guys that run WA are always working hard to keep that training up to date. They are always modifying and updating things to work with any of the latest changes on the web and internet marketing business.

There is nothing I can think of that they don't cover. It seems that just when you are stuck on something, you receive an email letting you know of an upcoming webinar that will teach you exactly what you are looking for.

Even though I have over a decade of experience and extensive knowledge of running an online business, I always learn something from WA. Even if the training is jogging my memory or reminding me of certain techniques, it is invaluable to even someone like myself who has already sold millions of Dollars worth of products online.

Imagine what it will do for someone just starting out like you?

If you don't like it, you can always leave after 30 days but I can almost guarantee that you won't.

Jaaxy

One of the most important tools an affiliate marketer needs is keyword research. There are about 500 million new search terms being searched every day and Jaaxy is how you accurately find out:

With a good keyword tool you can set out the best blueprint for your website's niche and give yourself the best start possible. Jaaxy is (or used to be) a standalone tool until Wealthy Affiliate did a deal with them. This actually happened soon after I joined.

The cost of joining Jaaxy without Wealthy Affiliate (at the time of writing this review) is:

When you are a premium member at Wealthy Affiliate, you actually get Jaaxy Pro for $19 per month and Enterprise at $49 per month. Those are huge savings of $30 and $50 per month respectively.

Do I Need Jaaxy?

If you were not a member at Wealthy Affiliate, you would still need a keyword research tool and Jaaxy is considered to be the best. The chances are you would go for the Pro version at $49 per month and that is what Wealthy Affiliate costs.

You could always join Jaaxy independently but that wouldn't make sense if you sign up to WA.

If you wanted to add Jaaxy Pro to WA, it is an extra $19 per month. So, one way of looking at this is that you are getting a premium membership at WA for $19 per month along with your usual keyword tool. However, it gets better...

Part of the deal that Wealthy Affiliate did with Jaaxy is that Jaaxy introduced an exclusive, new option. "Lite".

As a full, premium member at WA, you automatically get the Lite version of Jaaxy for free and this is easily enough for most people to do serious keyword researching for all of their websites. Lite fits neatly in between the starter and Pro versions of Jaaxy.

Brilliant!

This was a huge bonus for all Wealthy Affiliate premium members.

Additional Resources

Link Tracking

This is a very useful tool for whenever you are ready. It can be fairly confusing at first for beginners but it is something worth studying and using at some point. I will try to explain in fairly simple terms...

In order for you to be able to see what is working effectively on your website, you need to track the results. Without testing affiliate links and other aspects of your website, you will always be second guessing. For example:

Let's say you build a webpage with 3 affiliate links scattered on it all for the same product. It would be great to know which of those links are actually getting clicks and which ones are redundant.

Also, it would be great to continually test this on all of your pages until every page with affiliate links is fully optimised for the most clicks.

That is what this tool does.

Keywords

Using the link tool will also report to you which keywords are enticing people to make that click which is a superb way of optimizing your pages.

Traffic

Lastly, the link tracking tool will tell you exactly how much traffic you are sending to your affiliates and merchant pages. This is important for those merchants that do not track traffic for you.

WA Keyword Tool

Wealthy Affiliate also have their own, useful and effective keyword tool as well as the Jaaxy tool mentioned earlier. This is all accessible from within your account and the WA pages.

So...you think of a keyword and type it in. Let's use a ridiculously overused term and idea for a website that is far too broad. Dog Training.

All you do is key that in, press enter and here are the results:

This list is huge with not only the keyword you asked for but a ton of alternatives. The list shows you the average monthly searches, the traffic that keyword receives and the power of article and pay per click advertising based on that term.

There are also two clickable links:

Competition

If you click the competition link, you are given the QSR number...

This is the "Quoted Search Results" and it is the number of competing websites that are using the same target keyword you searched for or want to use. It is your competition and the lower the QSR the better.

In this case, 490 is way too high to go for unless you have a very well established and large website with a lot of marketing spend. You need to look for keywords with around QSR 100 or less, but don't despair.

Dig

Now click the "Dig" link. The list of keywords changes and gives you more alternatives like this:

If you now have a look through and click on say, "dog training books", you get this QSR:

That is much better isn't it? Now, you may have noticed that this keywords gets less searches and less traffic but you have a much better chance of winning the traffic for that keyword.

If you write a book about dog training and hit that keyword on your site from all angles:

You could well see the benefits in no time with a bit of hard work.

Now imagine doing this for 10, 50 or 100 keywords! How soon could you be winning traffic for all of those terms and then be selling books, courses, products and so on.

This in internet marketing terms is called going for the "low hanging fruit".

Conclusion

Believe me when I say there is too much to include on a single review like this without overwhelming someone. If you are a beginner to internet marketing and websites, you will fit right in here.

If you are a student looking for the most cost effective way to get involved, you will too.

Either way, this is a great way to start earning money online and building a great business with a solid foundation for years to come.

Imagine as a student, if you were to build this during your college or university years so that by the time you graduate, you have a wonderful, passive income to get you started in life.

Proof

Ok, I have been stung here before so I will keep it fairly simple with a couple of examples. When I was in the thick of selling my first set of DVD's, I must have spent a few months helping one of my customers (for free) to get him started. I would sometimes spend 2 hours creating a single screen recording "help video" for him.

One day, my wife noticed that someone was bootlegging and selling my DVD's on eBay. It was him.

I immediately sent a short and to-the-point legal letter. He removed the DVD's from sale and paid me everything he had made to date there and then. He also pleaded ignorance thinking he wasn't doing anything wrong.

For this reason, I am hesitant to give out too much information on my earnings and who I earn them through. However, I am still more than willing to help others succeed in their own niches.

Stock Photography

My photography website had reached many thousands of visitors each day when microstock photography was in its infancy. I cashed in on this traffic by adding a few affiliate links in the appropriate places throughout my website.

I also implemented a few more ideas which I will cover in the more extensive training courses after anyone signs up for our recommendations.

Anyway, one particular stock agency were offering a measly $0.03c or £0.02p (now $0.04c), for every sale made by each photographer that I signed up to their books.

The forums and message boards were full of naysayers complaining about the ridiculously low fee. I ignored them.

Anyway, the long and short of it is that I recruited around 9,000 photographers to their books who subsequently sold upwards of 850,000 images. That brought in a revenue of more than $25,000 over the next few years for just a few hours work. I did the same with 3 other stock agencies.

This shows not only the power of a website with good traffic but the power of going after the low hanging fruit that no-one else wants to touch. I also made around $25,000 from selling a portfolio of 1300 images and videos with that agency:

I was (and still am as far as I know) their top recruiting affiliate. To date, I have sold over £100,000 worth of my own stock photos and video clips too.

B & H Photo Video (New York)

What a fantastic company. They are like the Harrods of the photographic world based in New York, USA.

In the early days, before I discovered and got into Amazon, I sold products via B and H. Up to the point I switched to Amazon, I had sold just over half a million Dollars worth of product for them.

This gave an "ok" payout but they only pay commissions starting at 2% for photographic goods hence the switch.

Still, this shows that you can also make money even at incredibly low commissions.

Software

I won't go into too much detail here as they are now friends of mine. However, I was promoting some of their software via one of my websites that hit a sweet spot for the buying public.

At the height of this, I was selling a lot of products for them so I had my commission increased to 20%. This meant I was making between €2,000-€3,000 per month (I was living in Spain at the time) from this merchant alone.

I had sold around $600,000 worth of products for them before another company came along and gave away similar software for free. At that point the sales dried up somewhat.

Selling your own products may come at a later date for you as you gain experience. However, it is something I recommend that you do and it isn't that difficult. I will also be covering this in future courses for people that sign up to Wealthy Affiliate through myself as a thank you.

The most exciting thing about having your own products is recruiting your own team of affiliates to sell for you. This is when your sales explode through the roof!

These are just a few examples of where I have made money online through my websites. I promote products and services via many more means and merchants than this so imagine what you could do! The opportunities are infinite.

Cost

When you add up all of the tools, training, advice and community benefits you get from Wealthy Affiliate, the cost is incredibly well thought out.

If you sign up today as a free member, you have 7 days to try out the system and then decide if it is right for you. You will then be given the opportunity to join as a full, premium member and if you pay for the year, you get a huge discount.

Personally, I started on the second choice of $19 for the first month. I figured that if I didn't like it, I could just quit and all I would have lost was around £14. In that month, I could still learn a hell of a lot for that money too.
